Creating a Lamp - 3Ds Max

The object - lamp consists of several parts: bottle, button, glass and flame. The lamps stands on the table, which is bordered by to walls and  floor, creating a corner.

Creating this scene we started with the Bottle of the lamp. We used shape Cylinder, from the Standard Primitives. After place it in the centre of the scene , (using 3 Point Toggle ), we gave dimensions to it.
Then we used shape Torus, placed it to the bottom part of the bottle and with the Boolean operations (found in the compound objects) we substracted it from the bottle, giving the shape of the bottle additional shadow. Then we used  Taper to modify the bottle and decrease the upper radius.

To create the Button, we created small cylinder  and Rotated it for 90 degrees. The second part of the button was created again from the cylinder, but the circles were modified into hexagons. Two parts were fixed along their axis of symmetry.

For creating Glass for the lamp, firstly we drew a curve with a Spline tool and used tool Lathe to create a 3D shape.

Flame was built with the cylinder, having different radiuses on top and bottom. The Noise tool helped to give it more irregular shape.

Walls, floor and Table with four legs were created with the  Box tool.

After finishing designing shapes and volumes, we continued with the materials. We used Material Editor to create new and realistic materials by using photos as maps and changing some properties , like glossiness, specular level, self-illumination ,opacity and e.t.c. To make the materials visible in the perspective view, we chose Realistic Material with Maps.

After creating materials with needed textures and applying them to the already created volumes, we moved on lighting and camera.I placed Free Light on the flame. Then, after placing the Camera,we made a Render  and as the flame was the only source of lighting, there was a high contrast between shadows and light.

After this, to better present the material of the bottle (oxidized copper) I changed the location of the light and brought it outside the lamp.

Helix - Guggenheim

On 14th of April we learned how to create different shapes using the tool Helix.    After creating the helix we built a box which entirely covered the helix. To give the thickness to the helix we can add circles (or any other forms) to the beginning or the ending of the helix and Extrude them.   After we fit the helix to the box again we can use tool Substract, to create a shape on the box.   We can create a helix which's top radius differs from the bottom one.   After creating a section shape and sticking it to the end of the helix, we can use the Extrude command and choose path to create a form that is similar to the Guggenheim Museum. Animation with Letters - 3Ds Max

For creating an animation with letters, we went through several steps: creating letters, giving them material, setting lighting and camera, adding sounds. For creating letters MVTA we used Text tool , Extruded them to give volume and using Bevel tool, we changed the edges of the letters and made them more round and soft. We used Material Editor, to create and give the letters desired texture. After finishing designing letters, we moved to animation. After adjusting the frame editor we turned on the Auto button to begin creating movements. We placed the camera on the first position and after moving the time slider on the needed frame, we relocated the camera. The second step in our animation was the R otation of the letters and the final one- moving the light horizontally, from West to the East. Finally we added 2 sounds. In my video , first sound (rain drops) follows the full lenght of the video and the second one (thunder) appears in the moment when the light moves to create an effe
